Add/Remove Packages
Customers are not just associated
with a single package. Within Helm, a customer can purchase as
many packages as they like. |
|
Add/Remove Domains
Since a customer can hold more than
one domain within the single account, the added ability to just
remove a domain from a package and replace with a new one is a
well sought after feature for customers. |
|
Add/Remove Domain
Registrations
Domain registrations are kept separately
from the hosted domains. This allows a customer to register domains
through their reseller, or resellers to register domains through
their admin without having to setup the domain on the system first. |
|
Add/Remove Additional
Features
At any time customers can add and
cancel additional features such as web statistics, databases and
much more. You can also purchase Extra Features (if offered) to
add on to your package. These can range from extra bandwidth and
extra domains to more POP3 accounts. Your package is therefore
extremely flexible in terms of what can be added and offered,
and has almost unlimited scope for future additions. |
|
Billing
As a customer you are capable of viewing
outstanding bills, settling bills online where appropriate or
viewing previous invoices. |
|
Internal Messaging
Customers can view internal messages
from their reseller or the administrators. Messages are marked
as 'Read' as soon as they are viewed so that a customer can see
messages that they have not read before. Helm will also alert
you when you sign in if you have any unread messages. |
|
Manage Email Accounts
Super acounts and customers can add,
update and remove email accounts (POP3 accounts). The number of
email accounts available for a domain is set at the package level.
This means if a customer's package has more than one domain, the
number of email accounts are distributed among all the domains. |
|
Manage Email Forwarding
Super acounts and customers can add,
update and remove email forwarders. Like email accounts, email
forwarders can be controlled from admin or customer accounts. |
|
Manage MRAs
MRAs (Multi-Recipient Addresses) allow
a customer to setup an address that will forward to one or more
email addresses. An administrator can restrict the maximum number
of recipients to ensure this feature is less likely to be used
as a mail list. This feature is dependant on the email server
software installed. |
|
Manage FTP Accounts
Admin and customers can add, update
and remove FTP accounts. FTP accounts can be set to have specific
read and write permissions. This means a read-only or write-only
FTP account can be created at any time. |
|
Manage ODBC DSNs
Admin and customers can add, update
and remove ODBC DSNs for MS Access, MS Excel, MySQL (where appropriate)
and MS SQL (where appropriate). Because all database management
is controlled by Helm, adding ODBC DSNs is very much straightforward.
In many cases adding a new DSN is as simple as typing the name
of the DSN and selecting the database from a list available to
the customer. |
|
Manage Sub-Domains
Sub-domains allow users to use full
host names to access subfolders within their accounts, such as
forums.mydomain.com. This is a great alternative when the customer
doesn't need email etc for the sub-domain, but just needs it for
a few webpages or files. |
|
Manage Domain Aliases
Domain aliases will allow a customer
to have additional domains that map their website and email for
another domain. This is also a great way of arranging a way for
a customer to test out a set up before a domain is pointing to
the servers. |
|
Manage Shared SSL
You can set up shared SSL accounts
for the customers’ domains. This will allow customers to provide
their own scripts and ensure that they are communicated with securely
when using credit card payment forms, or when downloading confidential
information. |
|
File Manager
Helm provides a file manager that
allows a customer to access all of their disk space. They can
browse, create, edit and move folders and documents for their
domain. This even includes a WYSIWYG editor at no extra cost. |
|
Database Manager
This feature provides a quick overview
of the databases that are installed for a domain. You can upload
Access databases for your domain and, if offered, MySQL and MS
SQL Server databases. This feature is planned to be extended in
the future to encompass full database management online. |
|
DNS Zone Editor
Helm lets you configure custom global
DNS zone records that will be added to all domains set up under
an account. This means that you don’t have to add DNS entries in
every domain for services that you offer (such as statistics and
access to Helm). |
|
Manage MIME Types
Admin and customers can add, update
and remove MIME types. This allows a customer to add additional
services such as WAP, should this not be provided by default. |
|
Statistics
Keep an eye on web site traffic generated
by the domains set up in your control panel, via at-a-glance charts
which cover 24 hour and 30-day periods. |
|
Manage Your Details
Helm lets you amend your personal
details at the click of a button. Change your email address in
one place, and any notifications from resellers will get sent
to it without the need for changing the address in multiple places. |
|
Custom Error Pages
Helm lets you specify Custom Error
pages for your domains, instead of being directed to the default
error pages (such as “Page cannot be found”). This lets you integrate
your own error pages that are themed alongside your domain. |
|
FrontPage Extensions
If offered, you may have the ability
to install FrontPage Extensions on your domain, which allow you
to use FrontPage to publish to your domain. |
